This book will provide readers important information about different species and their way with life. Many animals differ from one another and are classified in various ways, depending on which “kingdom” they belong to. 

This is a perfect book for teachers who have longed for an intricate introduction towards different animal species. 

All animals included in this book are organized by taxonomy within each section (mammals, birds, amphibians, fish, reptiles, and invertebrates), and they are all lined up by their common and scientific names, as wells as fact boxes that featuring lifespan of the certain animal, their natural habitat, and their actual size and details describing their usual diet, special features, and the other relevant information.

This book is actually a third part of the Elements Trilogy and is the second book of Theodore Gray’s creations that has literally sold millions of copies across the globe and that already says a lot about how great this book is for science teachers. 

This is one of the books that will ignite the passion of science teachers when it comes to everything related to chemistry. 

To further enjoy reading this book, I would suggest reading the whole trilogy entitled: “The Elements: A Visual Exploration of Every Known Atom in the Universe” (2015), and of course the “Reactions: An Illustrated Exploration of Elements, Molecules, and Change in the Universe” (2017).

In the “Molecules”, the author discusses the millions of chemical structures that make up every material in the world and the story behind every chemical structure there is.

The book begins by discussing the evidence of how atoms bond to create molecules and compounds, further because of the difference between organic and chemical science. 

Then you’ll be able to shake your imagination by exploring the vast array of materials molecules can create, with all the everyday things you see within your household, this includes, you laundry soaps, detergent, oils, ropes, over the counter medicines to dangerous and illegal drugs, everyday ingredients you see within your kitchen’s pantry, to unconventional chemicals like asbestos, CFCs, and even thimerosal, which is all included and discussed in this book. 

But that made it somewhat more abstract since most people rarely interact directly with more than some elements, and their atomic nature is a smaller part of each day experience. 

The text was mostly interesting trivia for every element. This book on the contrary goes up to another layer from atoms to molecular compounds, and in and of itself it comes to a step closer to our everyday encounters. 

The elements were a book you always checked out, but “Molecules” is a book you will need to read since it’s jam-packed stuffed with interesting and useful information about the chemistry of nature and human industry.

One of the great things that this book has to offer is the photography captured by none other than Nick Mann. The pictures in this book are absolutely dashing to look into. Seeing such detail of the planet around people is fascinating. 

People will read through this book again and again, without losing interest, see something new each time, and alter the way the readers examine everything around them. It is a guarantee that science teachers will not be able to stop reading this book, and will surely become one of the treasured books that they will be able to read. 

Theodore Gray also incorporates information about each and every molecule, and for anyone who is a trivia lover, this book will definitely be on top of their list.

Conclusion

Science is really a wonderful subject if you take interest in it, and sharing the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been passed down from generation to generation from all ages is one of the greatest things to share with the future generation. 

It gives us hope that maybe when their time comes, they will do something with the knowledge they have earned and they will try to make a better world, not only for humans but for every living thing here on Earth.

Science also does not have to be the boring subject that students hate going to, science can be taught in an interactive fun way where they will be excited when the time for creating experiments comes.

And with great teachers who educate our children of what powers they can hold when they learn about science, no doubt we will all find ourselves taking the right path to save ourselves from the current situations of global warming and other crisis humankind is facing.

Tips on how to teach science in a fun yet effective way

1.) Try to bring in the fun by adding photos and videos or by using apps that show science in our everyday life. 

Well, this one will surely get your crowd’s attention. With kids being familiar with how videos help children learn especially with them being able to use the internet nowadays, it will be a fun time to add in and show them short videos or clips explaining how science is present in our everyday lives. 

You can get short video clips of fun experiments from the internet and show them to your class for a fun and interactive time and you can also get them to try the experiment once you are done showing them the clip. 

You can also provide fun and colorful interactive pictures about certain science topics like molecules and atoms to create a great interaction with your students. 

Also, a lot of great science apps can be downloaded free so it’s best to utilize those free apps to also integrate technology into your teaching strategies. 

2.) Take real-life examples and help students realize that science is everything around us.

What’s better than letting the students face science head-on? They’ll get to earn great experiences and also learn important fundamentals when it comes to science, and starting them young will only reinforce a great studying habit if it’s done in a way that imprints interest on them. 

When they start to realize that science is everything that is happening around them on a daily basis, they’ll be more excited to try and learn new things as well as to participate more in class and maybe contribute something to the world someday, and that is something amazing a teacher can do. 

3.) Get their hands dirty and let them experience science for themselves. 

I don’t know about you, but I still remember that when it’s time for experiments and other science activities in my school, I was always up for the challenge, and that really gives me something to look forward to when any science subject comes up. 

Get your students to try science out for themselves, you can line up activities that will not only be fun to participate in but will also give them a great lesson to learn about how science works in many ways. 

You can try giving them simple tasks at first and maybe incorporate that to your future lessons as well to give them some kind of a look back on how things are connected when it comes to the subject of science.

4.) Present mind-boggling scenarios, and make their heads hurt. (just not literally) and try a reward system that will benefit everyone. 

Giving them a challenge will inspire them to participate more in class—especially if you’re giving them great rewards on whoever cracks the code of what you’re trying to have them get the answer to.

I remember this one time my science teacher gave us a fun project on proving if a plastic from a local grocery store was really biodegradable as it was advertised since the use of plastic has been gaining a lot of controversies a lot of brands were claiming that their plastic is eco-friendly and will disintegrate over time. 

Our project lasted for almost the whole school year because we tested out a few plastics and made sure to observe each and everyone, we checked on it at least every week. And whoever had the strongest argument will be getting an exemption for the finals. 

And surely, everyone was eyeing on that one! Creating a reward system for your students can also give them motivation for them to carry out their scientific studies at their best efforts, and surely it’s just a win-win situation for everybody. 

You get to teach them what you want them to learn, and your students gain knowledge that nobody will ever be able to take from them. It’s always fun to know how things work!

5.) Take them outside for a recreational learning experience

I’m a big fan of field trips and all school activities done outside of school. A different atmosphere paves a new way for kids to learn about the basics of science that is just much better to experience when you’re outside of the classroom. 

Experience is the best teacher aside from the actual teachers. You can also maybe set up talks with experts on subject matters to help you expand more about a certain topic that you will be discussing in the class. 

You can also ask your students to maybe create a mini-ecosystem within the school grounds if it is allowed, or maybe have them create a garden for them to observe how plants start growing from tiny seeds to mighty and strong trees that help give out oxygen that we breathe in. 

Plus, you and your students will be able to breathe fresh air which is very beneficial to everybody and can really entice your students to learn while outside. 

You can also set up picnics, and maybe create your own lemonade recipe when your students will learn about the concept of mixtures and learn how to measure things exactly to create the perfect refreshment after a tiring day outside.

Your imagination is the limit when it comes to science! Science is a subject of continuous learning, even the best scientists of our time are still learning each and every day. You’ll never know, the next kid sitting in your class will be a great scientist one day.
