9 Best Family and Kids Movies 2022

1.) Turning Red

First up on our list is a well-loved movie that has been playing in our humble abode about 10-12 times a week. I know! It’s quite deranging for an adult, but I must admit the songs are quite catchy that I found myself singing the songs in the shower too!

The story follows the story of a young girl names Mei-mei who is 13-years old and is quite afflicted with herself because whenever she gets too excited or emotional she will then turn into a giant red panda!

Teenage years are the most confusing time of our lives, and you’ll surely relate to Mei-mei at some point in the movie, and if you have teenagers at the same age as hers watching the movie with you this will be an easy two-thumbs up!

If you loved the OG Marmaduke movie, then you’ll definitely be ecstatic about the new 3D CGI animated movie remake by Netflix.

4.) Lightyear

Those who are guilty of binge-watching Toy Story movies from 1 to 4, say “I”!

Now getting a spotlight of his own, embark on a space adventure with the legendary Buzz Lightyear in his very own origin story.

Just a heads up! The movie’s story it’s not about the Toy Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise, but rather about the Buzz Lightyear that the toy was based on.

So it’s definitely a ground to discover more about Buzz Lightyear himself. So be ready to see him in action in space! And lucky for those who are still planning to do something this coming Father’s day, this coincidentally drops on the same day as well!

5.) Minions: The Rise Of Gru

The Minions craze is still to continue with the new upcoming movie “Minions: The Rise of Gru”. We all had the chance to meet little Gru in the Minions movie released back in 2015.

Hitting the theaters this summer 2022, this movie will give us a rundown on how little Gru and the Minions Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and the rest of the gang first met and how they started to form an alliance to become the best super villain in the world.

6.) Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

All aboard the Hotel Transylvania train! If you and your kids can’t get enough of Drac and the gang, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania will reunite you with your favorite monsters as Drac will be faced with his most terrifying task yet—becoming a human!

And not only that, Johnny, Mavis’ husband becomes a monster too, a little vice-versa action I must day. All this happened because Van Helsing’s mysterious invention goes haywire and accidentally turns everyone from monster to human and from human to monster as well.

And in this all-new adventure that they must face, they’ll need to find a way to switch themselves back to normal before their transformation becomes all too permanent.

7.) Cheaper By The Dozen

Introducing a new spin on the classic comedy movie we all know, “Cheaper by the dozen”. Watch Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff in this remake, as Paul and Zoe baker who has to navigate through creating a blended household of 10 kids all on their own.

Through thick and thin, they try to create a loving home as they try to succeed in their business as well, sounds like an impossible task, right? But nothing is impossible with the love for your family and determination to stick together as one.

8.) Sneakerella

Cinderella has been done by Disney in many different versions but none quite like this one!

Follow El’s dream of becoming the best sneaker designer for King’s brand in a one-of-a-kind hip-hop/pop music-driven movie that will have you dancing your feet on the beat.

Release Date: May 13, 2022

Where to watch: Disney+

9.) Apollo 10 ½: A Space Age Child

From the imagination of Richard Linklater, he blesses us with an out-of-this-world movie about the moon landing where he also gives us two lenses to see through: the first one is from the astronauts, and the other is from a 10-year-old boy named stan who dreams of being the first ever person to be in space.

Now what I love about this movie is that it’s not the typical CGI kids’ movie that Netflix makes. In the movie, Linklater flaunts his love for rotoscope animation which is so refreshing and candid, and what adds to that is the thrill of the story of what it was like to be a child in the race to space era.

Watch this with your kids, and this movie will surely be a positive thought-provoking piece that will inspire them to love space even more!
